Tour FAQ’s

DEPARTURE: July 28, 2011
We need to arrive at San Francisco Airport (SFO) @ TBD pm – Thursday July 28, 2011.
We will meet in the SFO International Terminal, by TBD Airline Check In counters. Do not be late, please.
The flight departs for London at TBD pm. Flight # TBD.

LUGGAGE & CLOTHING:
You can take a suitcase, a sport bag and a carry on bag.
Please pack sensibly. England is not cold this time of year. It does rain a little, from time to time. Bring comfortable & casual clothes but have something you can look semi formal. Include a warm jacket, sweater and jeans or chinos. The accom provides courtesy packs, which have some shampoo & soap, but bring your own anyway. All bedding and towels are provided for. You will need some additional training clothes for soccer, but match uniforms can be cleaned at the on site laundry facilities. You will have time to do some laundry every day, as the facilities are open 24 hours and are located in every College residence wing.

MEALS, MONEY, SHOPPING & PASSPORTS:

Breakfast & Dinner are included on tour. Lunch money should be factored in at about $10 per day.
The best way to travel in Europe is with an ATM and/or a Credit Card. If you do not have one, traveler’s checks would be best. We will not be holding any of the player’s money, because our experience states this tends to get very messy. We will keep an eye out for ’silly spending’ as will the other members of the ‘adult contingent’ who will help supervise spending habits.
How Much money? You should take whatever dollar amount you desire, because it is a personal issue. But I do think that $400. will be enough for a modest experience, however, the exchange rate will/can affect the equation.
Passports: Keep them your locked in your rooms! A photocopy can be kept on your person when we are out and about, and keeping a copy at home in the US is a very good idea.

TOUR HOSTS/GUIDES: In addition to Simon Ireland (Tour Director) several seasoned WS Tour staff will be traveling with the teams 24/7.
Tour Parents do often accompany the tour teams on flights, but do not travel or stay domestically in lodging with the teams. They make their own way and meet at game time.
Also, our UK football friends and colleagues in each of the cities will join our group and help with any issues we may have.
During our sightseeing time, the boys & girls will be divided between the adults and escorted……we won’t ‘step on their toes’ if they just obey the rules ! Walkie-Talkies are extremely useful, and we have a good number of Motorola’s, so bring another one if you have one.

For ‘Non Emergency’ contact, please use email sjireland@yahoo.com , or Skype ( www.Skype.com ) us on ‘simon.ireland’ and I/we can fwd your messages……… the girls can also log on at many Internet Cafes and get their email. If you have not already done so, opening an email account with ‘yahoo.com’ is the easiest. iPhones and internet capable fons do work in the UK, but it is very expensive and it’s an additional (large) charge for a ‘data plan’ in the UK. We will be sending fotos almost daily.

In case of ‘Emergency’, please call the following numbers as they appear :
World Soccer UK Cell number 1 : 011 44 7857 748 581
World Soccer UK Cell number 2 : 011 44 7955 624517
World Soccer UK Cell number 3: 011 44 7762 139423

CALLING HOME: Players only have to ask for our help in contacting home.
Some US cell phones work just fine in the UK. Check with your provider, as you do require a ‘tri band’ phone. Text messaging is cheap and instant. Again, if you have ‘Skype’, players can video chat, in real time, for free, 24/7 from our laptop computers. There is access to WiFi at our accomodation. If a player wants to bring a laptop, they are free to do so, but we cannot be responsible for its safety/security. Learn how easy it is to use Skype. ( www.Skype.com )

MEDICAL:
The medical system in the England is very good. We lived and played in England and were very well cared for. Each match we play will have a ‘trainer’ on the sideline and should we ever need any urgent care, we will get it – ‘urgently’.
The girls are in good hands. The game looks after its players, consequently, we will have the help we need, on call.

DISCIPLINE:
It has to be said……………..Discipline is essential.
We will send a player home early, for any conduct that is not befitting the tour team.

RETURN FLIGHT: Thursday August 11
Teams will return on TBD on August 11, arriving SFO at about TBD pm.
